Description:The Assistant Director of Student Services and Events supports student success through managing and supporting student organizations, planning student events, providing career coaching and programming, and overseeing large campus-wide events such as Commencement and White Coat Ceremony. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Academic and Professional Achievement (CAPA), the Assistant Director of Student Services and Events is essential in cultivating a vibrant and involved campus community by providing guidance and support to student government and organizations and planning and executing large-scale signature campus events. The Assistant Director of Student Services and Events designs and implements initiatives to increase student engagement, foster wellness, build community, and improve the overall student experience.
This will be a hybrid job role once training is completed.
Student Services and Events

  • Plan and implement large-scale events, including Commencement, the White Coat Ceremony, the OD Send-Off, and Career events. Coordinate with the appropriate committees and departments as needed.
  • Create and maintain a master calendar of student services marketing initiatives and deadlines; work with Marketing to share social media information, internal portal, and website content; create marketing materials and promote activities and events to encourage maximum student attendance.
  • Recommends appropriate venue options based on the scope and specifications of events. Conducts pre-event site/venue tours for off-campus events.
  • Manage event vendors, volunteer staff, and student workers.
  • Hire, train, and manage work-study students for events. Train and manage event volunteers and staff. Manage all event vendors.
  • Track and monitor event expenses, overseeing event billing and payment processes.
  • Collaborate with offices, including Operations and Facilities, Academic Affairs, Development and Alumni Relations to ensure successful programs and activities.
    Student Leadership Development
    • Serve as an advisor to student council members and other campus leaders and assist with the executive student council handbook. Attend monthly student council meetings and provide advice and refer students to resources. Share information with leadership as needed.
    • Support student organizations around event planning and approvals, budgeting, room reservations, purchases, reimbursements, contracts, and fundraising. Attend and support large-scale student club/organization events.
    • Facilitate training for student leaders, including event planning, risk management issues, policies, contracts, operational logistics, and communication. Provide leadership development training opportunities.
    • Oversee spending for student council and clubs following approved budgets. Coordinate and facilitate sponsorship opportunities and payments with the Development and Business Offices.
    • Coordinate the Student Life Committee meetings with the Board of Trustees and student leaders.
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as the Business Office, Development and Alumni Relations, the President's Office, Academic Affairs, and the Business Office, to ensure that all student organization events are planned and executed successfully.
      Career Programming:
      • Assist with the NECO Career portal and any technology or other job-sharing initiatives.
      • Coordinate and conduct career development opportunities, including resume review and programming. Coordinate and execute regular career and professional development events.
      • Partner with the NECO Alumni Board to facilitate relationships and partnerships for signature events between students and alumni.
        Center for Academic and Professional AchievementServe as a Center for Academic and Professional Achievement team member, contributing to annual planning, reporting, and assessments. Promote resources and initiatives and support all academic and professional planning activities and processes as needed.Support proctoring for Midterm and Final exams for students with accommodations.Assist with addressing student concerns and advising as needed and support programming across the department.Represent NECO at ASCO and other industry-related events as needed.Able to work evening and weekend hours as needed throughout the year.Other duties as assigned.

            Requirements:
            • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of professional experience required, preferably in Campus Life/Student Activities with a focus on leadership and student organization, higher education, or event coordination
            • Experience in event planning and execution, budget management, and programming.
            • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
